Social media explodes at Sanders for hosting trans musician who sang ‘pure evil’ song at anti-Trump rally

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ ongoing “Fighting Oligarchy” tour across the United States has sparked controversy after hosting transgender singer Laura Jane Grace, who performed a song with lyrics deemed offensive to Christianity. The song, titled “Your God (God’s D—),” includes sexually explicit language mocking Easter Sunday, God, and Jesus. Conservative activist Robby Starbuck took to social media to criticize Sanders for allowing such a performance at his rally in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Friday.

Despite the backlash, Sanders personally thanked Grace for her performance during the event, leading to further outrage among critics and conservatives. The Vermont senator has been traveling to battleground states like Wisconsin and Michigan as part of his tour, aiming to address the issue of oligarchy in the country following the Trump administration.

Laura Jane Grace, known for her role as the lead singer of the punk rock band Against Me!, came out as transgender in 2012 and has been vocal about LGBTQ rights. However, her recent performance at Sanders’ rally has drawn condemnation for its offensive content. Critics have accused Sanders of endorsing anti-Christian sentiments by praising the musician on stage.

While Sanders has yet to respond to the backlash, he has been vocal about his concerns regarding the rise of oligarchy in the U.S. during President Donald Trump’s administration. In a streamed response to Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress, Sanders criticized the government for prioritizing the interests of the wealthy elite over ordinary Americans.

As the controversy surrounding Laura Jane Grace’s performance continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Sanders will address the situation. The Vermont senator’s anti-oligarchy tour has faced criticism for its choice of performers, highlighting the ongoing debate over free expression and religious sensitivity in political events.
