Blue state GOP leader reveals who is benefitting after Dems clash with ICE

Following the recent incident at Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey, where Mayor Ras Baraka was arrested during a protest, tensions have escalated between Democrats and Republicans. The focus has shifted to illegal immigrants versus American citizens, with Republicans accusing Democrats of prioritizing the former.
Kennith Gonzalez, the Executive Director of the New Jersey Republican State Committee, expressed his disappointment in Democratic officials, including Reps. Bonnie Coleman Watson, Robert Menendez Jr., and LaMonica McIver, for visiting the Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility instead of focusing on issues affecting American citizens. He believes that the Democratic Party is not putting America first, which could impact the upcoming November election.
Immigration and border security have been significant issues for voters, with many supporting the deportation of illegal immigrants. President Trump’s close victory in New Jersey last November highlighted the dissatisfaction among voters with Joe Biden’s border policies. Despite New Jersey not being considered a swing state, Trump received nearly 46% of the vote.
Regarding Mayor Baraka’s arrest and potential candidacy for governor, Gonzalez believes that the theatrics may appeal to primary voters but may not resonate with the broader electorate. He is skeptical about Baraka’s chances in the general election, especially among Hispanic voters who prioritize border security and public safety.
While Democrats have defended Baraka’s actions as a form of protest against unjust immigration policies, federal officials maintain that he was breaking the law. Baraka, on the other hand, has stood by his decision to protest at Delaney Hall, referring to it as a “David moment” where he felt compelled to take a stand.
Overall, the Delaney Hall incident has highlighted the divide between Democrats and Republicans on immigration issues. As the November election approaches, the focus on illegal immigration versus American citizens is likely to play a significant role in shaping voter opinions. It remains to be seen how these events will impact the political landscape in New Jersey.
