‘Bluey’ movie confirmed: What’s known so far

Exciting News for Bluey Fans: Animated Movie in the Works

The highly anticipated news that many fans of the beloved blue dog, Bluey, have been waiting for has finally arrived.

A movie based on the popular children’s animated series “Bluey” has been announced to hit theatres soon. The announcement was made on social media, with BBC Studios, Disney, Disney+, and ABC all tagged in the post.

Joe Brumm, the creator of the series, shared a letter on the show’s website where he revealed the exciting news. He mentioned that after taking some time away from the series to work on another project, he found himself writing a Bluey feature script that he was truly passionate about. This led to the decision to create an animated Bluey movie, which is now in the works.

However, along with the good news, Brumm also shared some “trifficult” news. He announced his decision to step away from the television series, stating that he wanted to ensure that any new seasons produced would live up to the quality of the previous ones. As a result, he decided to take a break from his involvement in the TV series, with “The Sign” marking his potential TV finale for Bluey.

In a press announcement for the film, Brumm expressed his excitement about working on a longer format for “The Sign” in Series 3 and how creating a feature film felt like a natural progression. He emphasized his belief that Bluey deserved a theatrical movie and hoped it would be an unforgettable experience for families to enjoy together.

The movie will feature vocal talents from the series, including Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack, as well as music by “Bluey” composer Joff Bush. Fans can expect the film to hit theatres in 2027, followed by its release on ABC iview and ABC Kids in Australia.
