Bodybuilder Jodi Vance dead: Trainer says she made ‘serious error’

Bodybuilder Jodi Vance tragically passed away last Thursday in Columbus, Ohio, at just 20 years old after suffering a fatal heart attack. The news shocked the fitness community, as Vance was known for her dedication and passion for bodybuilding.

Vance’s family took to social media to reveal the heartbreaking reason behind her sudden death at the Arnold Sports Festival. According to a post on Vance’s Instagram page, her heart stopped due to complications of severe dehydration. Despite the hospital’s best efforts, they were unable to revive her.

“She was a beautiful person inside and out, and she will be missed every single day. This was sudden and unexpected. Please give her family time to process this loss in peace. If anyone takes anything from this, please put your health first,” the post read.

Vance was not at the Arnold Sports Festival to compete on stage, but rather to help coach those who were competing, as reported by TMZ Sports. Her coach, Justin Mihaly, revealed in an Instagram video that Vance had used “extremely hazardous substances” to improve her physique for the expo without his knowledge or approval.

Mihaly expressed regret over the situation and emphasized that there was no reason for Vance to have been dehydrating in such a dangerous manner. He also stated that he had consent from Vance’s mother, Jenny, to share the details of what led to the severe dehydration.

Despite the tragic circumstances surrounding her death, Vance had recently achieved success in the fitness world by placing third in the 2024 NPC Battle of Texas in the Women’s Physique division. She used her fitness page as a platform to showcase her progress and share motivational quotes with her followers.
