Boutiliers Point man, 57, turns himself in for vandalizing boats, slashing tires and uttering threats

TANTALLON, N.S. — RCMP have arrested and charged 57-year-old Andrew Joseph Cullen for his alleged involvement in multiple vandalism incidents including slashed tires, damage to a search and rescue boat and uttering threats over the phone.
Police first caught attention of the antics on Monday, Oct. 16, after a man in Port Hawkesbury reported sitting in his pickup truck at a business on Reeves Street around 6 a.m. when he was confronted by another man who slashed his tires before fleeing.
Later that day, police received multiple complaints from the Hubbards area about a man threatening several people over the phone.
The suspect, Cullen, was reportedly known to the victims and later identified to be involved in the Port Hawkesbury incident through public tips.
The next day, police were called about several more incidents after surveillance footage at a marina on Nautical Way in Tantallon recorded vandalism to a St. Margarets Bay Marine Search and Rescue inflatable vessel, a boat life and two boat trailers.
Meanwhile, Mounties continued to receive reports of a man uttering threats over the phone and one instance of car tires slashed on Shore Club Road in Hubbards.
RCMP estimated the total cost of the damages to be over $35,000.
Later that day, just before 1:30 p.m., Cullen turned himself in to police at the Tantallon RCMP station and was safely arrested.
He faces six counts of uttering threats, five counts of mischief, criminal harassment and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Cullen, from Boutiliers Point, appeared in Halifax provincial court on Wednesday, Oct. 18 and was kept in police custody to return to court on Thursday, Oct. 19.
