Brazil’s first lady tells Elon Musk ‘f–-k you’ during pre-G20 speech
Brazil’s first lady, Janja Lula da Silva, caused quite a stir when she dropped an f-bomb directed at Tesla CEO Elon Musk during an official event over the weekend. The incident occurred during a pre-G20 social event in Rio de Janeiro, where Lula was discussing the issue of misinformation on social media.
As Lula was delivering her speech, she was interrupted by the sound of a ship’s horn in the distance. With a hint of humor, she quipped in Portuguese, “I think it’s Elon Musk. I’m not afraid of you, by the way.” The audience erupted in cheers when she followed up with, “F–k you, Elon Musk,” in English.
The clip of Lula’s explicit joke quickly went viral, catching the attention of Musk himself. In response, Musk posted laughing emojis and predicted that Lula’s party would lose the next election.
The incident comes in the wake of Brazil banning X in September, a move that sparked outrage globally. The ban was imposed by Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes, citing the platform’s failure to adequately moderate misinformation. However, the ban was lifted a month later, with X pledging to adhere to Brazilian laws and respect the judiciary’s decisions.
In a statement, X expressed its commitment to defending freedom of speech within legal boundaries. The platform’s return to Brazil was welcomed by millions of users who rely on it for information and communication.
The Brazilian first lady’s joke occurred just two days before the official start of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, where President Biden was in attendance. Despite his presence, Biden missed the annual family photo with world leaders due to logistical reasons, according to the White House.
The incident involving Lula and Musk added a touch of humor to the G20 summit, showcasing the playful banter that can sometimes occur among world leaders. As the summit continues, it will be interesting to see how the interactions between different countries unfold.
