Planned Parenthood chapter provided Harris campaign workspace, breaking tax law: IRS complaint

In a recent development, a Planned Parenthood chapter in Florida has come under scrutiny for allegedly violating its tax-exempt status by providing workspace for the Harris-Walz presidential campaign. The complaint was filed with the IRS by 40 Days for Life, a prominent pro-life organization, in December. According to the complaint, Planned Parenthood Florida may have engaged in prohibited political activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status.

“This is one of the many violations we’ve seen Planned Parenthood do,” said Shawn Carney, CEO of 40 Days for Life. “Because we’re physically present at these abortion facilities, we witness a lot of things that Planned Parenthood does.” The organization claims to have evidence of Planned Parenthood hosting campaign events for the Harris-Walz campaign and promoting them with flyers at their facilities.

Despite multiple attempts to reach out to Planned Parenthood Florida for comment, Fox News Digital did not receive a response by the publication deadline. Carney emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, stating that providing workspace and promoting campaign events for a specific political party goes against the rules for a 501c3 organization.

This is not the first time 40 Days for Life has raised concerns about Planned Parenthood’s activities. Last summer, they filed a complaint regarding a mobile abortion bus operating near the Democratic National Convention. The organization is urging the Trump administration to investigate these violations, which they believe show a clear partisan bias towards the Democratic Party.

The 42-page IRS complaint also highlights the stark difference between Planned Parenthood’s activities and permissible lobbying. The provision of office space for political campaigns is seen as a clear indicator of political endorsement or opposition, which is not allowed for tax-exempt organizations.

Included in the complaint are photographs of campaign staffers entering what appears to be the Planned Parenthood office in Sarasota, Florida. The allegations raise questions about the organization’s compliance with tax laws and its involvement in political activities.

As the investigation unfolds, it will be interesting to see how Planned Parenthood Florida responds to these allegations and whether any action will be taken by the IRS. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
