Caitlin Clark records triple-double as Fever dominate Sky in WNBA opener

The Indiana Fever have kicked off the 2025 WNBA season in impressive fashion, securing a dominant 93-58 victory over the Chicago Sky. The standout performer of the game was none other than Caitlin Clark, who recorded a triple-double to lead her team to victory.

Clark, the reigning Rookie of the Year, showcased her all-around skills by contributing 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in the game. She was instrumental in propelling the Fever to a resounding win, displaying her scoring prowess with four made 3-pointers and her defensive abilities with four blocks and two steals.

While Clark stole the show, her teammates also made significant contributions to the team’s success. Guard Kelsey Mitchell added 15 points, while Aliyah Boston recorded a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Natasha Howard also made an impact in the paint, scoring 15 points and showcasing her defensive prowess with three steals.

On the other side, Chicago’s Angel Reese struggled to find her rhythm, shooting just 5 of 14 from the field. Despite leading the game with 17 rebounds, Reese finished with 12 points. The Sky as a whole had a poor shooting day, connecting on just 29.1% of their field goal attempts compared to the Fever’s 46.7% shooting.

The game was not without its drama, as tensions escalated between Clark and Reese after a hard foul. Clark was called for a flagrant foul after intentionally fouling Reese in the paint, leading to a heated exchange between the two players. The referees reviewed the play and upgraded the foul to a flagrant, with Reese receiving two free throws and Chicago retaining possession.
