Calgary man facing terrorism-related charges, RCMP says
CALGARY – Alberta RCMP says a 20-year-old man from Calgary faces several terrorism-related charges.
Mounties say Zakarya Rida Hussein has been charged with two counts of facilitating terrorist activity and two counts of participating in or contributing to, directly or indirectly, an activity of a terrorist group.
They say he was arrested on Thursday and appeared in court on Friday.
RCMP says he has been taken into custody pending a future trial.
They say the charges were brought following an investigation by the RCMP Federal Policing Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, with support from the Calgary Police Department.
RCMP has not released any other details about the case.
Mounties says the investigation is ongoing and no further comments will be released at this time.
