California man charged with kidnapping elderly South Carolina woman

A shocking incident unfolded in South Carolina when Enver Marius Zueros, a California man with a troubling criminal history, allegedly kidnapped and assaulted an elderly woman in a horrific attempted extortion scheme. Zueros, who is known for cross-dressing on social media, was out on bond for attempted murder when he targeted the 89-year-old victim.

The Summerville Police Chief, Doug Wright, emphasized the severity of Zueros’ actions, stating that he would be spending the rest of his life behind bars for his heinous crimes. The charges against Zueros include first-degree burglary, kidnapping, and attempted murder in connection with the harrowing ordeal that the elderly woman endured.

The victim was discovered in a critical condition, bound with duct tape, a dog leash, and a bag over her head. It was revealed that Zueros had a remote online connection with the victim’s brother, using this link to gain access to the woman and manipulate her for financial gain.

Zueros was reportedly enraged when the woman redirected her financial assistance to charities instead of him. In a calculated move, he rented an Airbnb in the area to carry out his sinister plan. The police highlighted that this was a targeted attack, showing the dangerous lengths individuals like Zueros are willing to go to satisfy their greed.

During the ordeal, a retired law enforcement neighbor became suspicious and intervened, prompting Zueros to fabricate a story about the victim being hospitalized. However, his lies were soon exposed, leading to his swift exit from the scene in the victim’s vehicle.

Authorities later located the victim in her car, restrained underneath the rear folding seats. Despite the traumatic experience, the woman sustained minor injuries and is on the path to recovery. Zueros was apprehended and is currently held in a local jail without bond.

The incident sparked outrage from U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace, who condemned California’s lax criminal justice policies that allowed Zueros to roam freely despite his violent tendencies. Mace called on California Governor Gavin Newsom to take responsibility for the actions of individuals like Zueros, urging him to prevent such criminals from causing harm in other states.

The chilling events surrounding Enver Marius Zueros serve as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals with malicious intent. It underscores the importance of vigilance and swift action to protect vulnerable members of society from falling victim to such ruthless predators.
