California man, who vanished 25 years ago, to reunite with family after picture in news article

A heartwarming story has recently come to light, revealing the reunion of a California man with his family after being reported missing for over two decades. The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office shared the incredible news on Facebook, stating that the man’s sister recognized him in a photo printed in a USA Today article in April of this year.
According to the post, the sister, identified as Marcella (Marcie) Nasseri, contacted Deputy Derek Kennemore after seeing the article and believed that the man in the picture was her long-lost brother, who had vanished without a trace 25 years ago. The family had been searching for him since August 1999, with no success in locating him.
Nasseri explained in a GoFundMe page that she had been looking for her brother as unidentified remains all this time. However, upon seeing his picture in the news article, she realized that he was alive and in a hospital in the Los Angeles area. With the assistance of Kennemore and the Los Angeles Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit, the man’s identity was confirmed through fingerprint analysis.
The man, who is nonverbal, had been transferred to another hospital in July before being positively identified as Nasseri’s brother. Nasseri expressed her happiness at finding her brother alive and well after all these years of uncertainty.
In her fundraiser, Nasseri mentioned that she is currently far away from her brother’s location and is seeking financial assistance to support him until a medical transfer can be arranged. She shared that her brother has recently learned to walk, can eat regular food, and is non-verbal. She is sending him essential items like clothing, pencils, and a scratch pad to help him adjust to everyday life again.
The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office commended Deputy Kennemore and the LAPD for their efforts in identifying the missing man and resolving the decades-old case. The sheriff’s office expressed their gratitude to Kennemore for his dedication and the LAPD for their assistance in bringing closure to the 25-year-old mystery.
