Canada Dominates Wales 42-0 in Women’s Rugby World Cup

Canada put on a stunning performance as they overwhelmed Wales 42-0 in a six-try display, moving one step closer to the quarterfinals of the Women’s Rugby World Cup in Manchester, England.

If Scotland manages to secure a victory against Fiji, both Canada and Scotland will advance from Pool B, resulting in the elimination of Wales and Fiji.

Exceptional Front Five Leads Canada to Victory

The Canada front five showcased exceptional skills throughout the match. They only lost two set-pieces, both being lineout overthrows, and consistently pushed Wales back in every scrum. Their dominance allowed Canada to execute long phase plays and a 15-meter rolling maul try.

Prop McKinley Hunt scored two tries, with her replacement Brittany Kassil adding one more. Lock Sophie de Goede stood out as the player of the match with 20 carries, 10 tackles, and converting all six tries.

“We were very dominant in the set-piece. It was amazing to watch our girls dominate the scrums, and the lineout was still strong for us,” said Canada captain Alex Tessier in an interview with the BBC.

Wales Starts Strong but Unable to Match Canada’s Power

Despite a strong start from Wales, spending the first 10 minutes in the Canada 22, they were unable to match Canada’s power and skill. In the first half, Canada made six visits to the Wales 22 and scored four impressive tries in just 15 minutes.
