Alberta Voters Speak Out on The National Tonight
Adrienne Arsenault is back on The National, broadcasting live from Medicine Hat, Alberta. Tonight, the focus is on hearing from Alberta voters who have diverse political views but a shared goal of making their province and country stronger. While Medicine Hat is traditionally conservative, residents are voicing their concerns about not wanting their loyal votes to be taken for granted.
Key issues for these proud Albertans include making it easier to transport oil and gas, processing cattle within the province rather than sending them to the U.S. for processing, and eliminating interprovincial trade barriers. Despite the talk of secession or a unity crisis, the voters interviewed express a desire for unity and working together to address the challenges facing Alberta.
One of the interviewees, Kody Traxel, a worker in the cattle feed industry with experience in oil and gas, acknowledges the discussions around separation but emphasizes the importance of coming together as a province to overcome economic challenges. He states, “The separation thing, I’m not a fan of it, but I’ll tell you that right now, at this time, it is something very talked about. It isn’t a joke anymore. I really think if we don’t tighten up the straps and get back to business and get us working, get affordability down, we’re going to be in big trouble.”
These hard-working and passionate voters provide valuable insights into the current political climate in Alberta. Tune in tonight to The National for a thought-provoking discussion with these Alberta residents.
