Canadian Relay Team Wins 4x100m Race at Florida Relays
The Canadian relay team, consisting of Aaron Brown, Jerome Blake, Brendon Rodney, and Andre De Grasse, emerged victorious in the 4×100-metres race at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. The team clocked in an impressive time of 38.09 seconds, showcasing their exceptional speed and teamwork on the track.
This same quartet previously secured a gold medal for Canada at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where they recorded a time of 37.50. Their consistent success and chemistry as a team have solidified their reputation as one of the top relay teams in the world.
Individually, Andre De Grasse also stood out at the Florida Relays by winning the men’s 200m final on Friday. The 30-year-old sprinter, originally from Markham, Ont., currently trains in Gainesville, Fla. under the guidance of coach Mike Holloway, further enhancing his performance and competitive edge.
In a closely contested race, the American team comprising Christian Coleman, Kyree King, Erriyon Knighton, and Robert Gregory secured the silver medal with a time of 38.16. The battle for supremacy between these two powerhouse teams adds excitement and intensity to the relay events.
Additionally, a second Canadian 4x100m team composed of Malachi Murray, Duan Asemota, Norris Spike, and Eliezer Adjibi clinched the bronze medal, finishing with a time of 39.13. Their impressive performance underscores the depth of talent within Canadian sprinting and relay disciplines.
