Canada’s Alex Loutitt Wins Bronze in World Cup Women’s Ski Jumping Event

Canada’s Alex Loutitt secured the bronze medal in the large hill competition at the final World Cup women’s ski jumping event of the season. The 21-year-old from Calgary, who initially placed ninth in qualifying, impressively reached her third podium of the season with a combined distance of 275.1 meters over her two jumps.

Nika Prevc of Slovenia dominated the competition, finishing comfortably in first place with a total distance of 302.8 meters. Selina Freitag of Germany claimed the silver medal with a distance of 277.4 meters.

Loutitt’s victory in the large hill event at a World Cup stop in Sapporo, Japan, back in January, and her third-place finish in the event last month at Lake Placid, N.Y., showcased her consistent performance throughout the season.

Heading into Friday’s World Cup large hill final, the 2023 world champion was ranked 10th in the overall standings, demonstrating her skill and determination in the sport.

Another Canadian athlete, Abigail Strate from Calgary, narrowly missed out on a top-10 finish, securing the 11th spot in the competition. This was a close call for Strate, who has consistently performed well throughout the season, with this event marking her sixth top-10 result.

With this impressive display of talent and determination, Alex Loutitt continues to make a name for herself in the world of women’s ski jumping. Her bronze medal win at the final World Cup event of the season is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport.
