Mikaela Shiffrin Dominates Women’s Slalom at World Cup Finals

Mikaela Shiffrin showcased her exceptional skills on a challenging course to claim victory in the women’s slalom at the World Cup finals in Sun Valley, Idaho. The American skier, who led after the first run, delivered a flawless performance to finish with a combined time of one minute and 45.92 seconds, securing a comfortable 1.13-second lead over Lena Duerr of Germany. Andreja Slokar of Slovenia rounded out the podium in third place.

Ali Nullmeyer from Toronto achieved a season-best ninth-place finish with a time of 1:48.52, marking a significant improvement from her previous best of 11th in a race earlier in the campaign. Meanwhile, Laurence St-Germain from Quebec finished in 20th place in the competition.

Shiffrin navigated the Sun Valley course with grace, drawing cheers from the enthusiastic crowd at every gate. Her victory in the slalom event marked a perfect end to the World Cup season, mirroring her triumph at the beginning of the season.

Despite a season marred by injuries, Shiffrin’s determination shone through as she overcame challenges to secure another impressive win. The 30-year-old athlete faced setbacks throughout the season, missing several races and ultimately finishing in fourth place in the slalom standings.

Croatian skier Zrinka Ljutic clinched the season-long slalom title, edging out Katharina Liensberger of Austria in a closely contested battle. Ljutic, who won the “rising star” award last season, displayed her talent and potential ahead of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics. Switzerland’s Camille Rast secured third place in the overall slalom standings.

Shiffrin’s journey this season was marked by a significant milestone when she achieved her 100th World Cup victory during a slalom race in Italy. Her win in Sun Valley marked her 101st World Cup triumph, a remarkable accomplishment celebrated by fans dressed as puppies in reference to the iconic “101 Dalmatians.”

Known for her dominance in slalom events, Shiffrin has consistently delivered exceptional performances, winning four out of six World Cup slalom races this season.
