Canadian Armed Forces Member Reported Missing in Latvia
A Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member deployed in Latvia has been reported missing since Tuesday, and the Department of National Defence says an investigation and search efforts are ongoing.
Search Efforts Underway for Warrant Officer George Hohl
The Department of National Defence and CAF say search efforts are ongoing for Warrant Officer George Hohl.
Lt.-Gen. Steve Boivin said Hohl is a vehicle technician from 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, based in Edmonton, who was deployed as part of the aviation battalion to the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia.
Hohl was last seen in the town of Adazi, Boivin said.
“Latvian police forces are leading the investigation with support from the Canadian Forces Military Police and the NATO Multinational Brigade, which are actively conducting search operations using all available resources,” Boivin said in a statement Thursday.
Family Notified and Provided Support
“Out of respect for the family’s privacy and to protect the integrity of the police investigation and ongoing search efforts, no further details will be released at this time.”
Boivin said Hohl’s next of kin has been notified and are being provided with support.
