Canadian Armed Forces Member Found Dead in Latvia

A tragic update from the Department of National Defence (DND) reveals that Warrant Officer Geroge Hohl, a Canadian Armed Forces member deployed to Latvia, has been found dead after being reported missing since Tuesday.

Details of the Incident

Warrant Officer Geroge Hohl, a vehicle technician based in Edmonton, was part of the aviation battalion deployed on “Operation Reassurance” to the NATO Multinational Brigade in Latvia. He was last seen in the town of Ādaži on Sept. 2 and his body was discovered on Sept. 5.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Warrant Officer Hohl’s death is ongoing, with the Canadian Forces Military Police assisting Latvian authorities in the process.

Condolences and Remembrance

Having served in the Canadian Armed Forces for nearly 20 years and participating in multiple operations, Warrant Officer Hohl leaves behind a legacy of dedicated service. General Jennie Carignan, Chief of the Defence Staff, expressed her condolences and highlighted Hohl’s commitment and contributions to the military.

Despite this tragic incident, DND stated that there is currently no indication of an increased threat to deployed members’ safety and security.
