Canadian Corey Conners 2 shots back at halfway point of Masters

Canadian golfer Corey Conners has put himself in a strong position at the Masters after two rounds of play. The Listowel, Ontario native shot a solid 2-under 70 on Friday, leaving him tied for third place, just two shots behind the leader, Justin Rose.
Rose continued to impress, maintaining his lead on the leaderboard while facing tough competition from the likes of U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau and a resurgent Rory McIlroy. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler also faced challenges, battling through difficult wind conditions to stay in contention with a 71.
Conners, known for his consistency at Augusta National, has a history of top-10 finishes at the prestigious event. His current form, with multiple top-10 finishes on the PGA Tour this season, has put him in a comfortable position to make a run at the green jacket.
Fellow Canadian Nick Taylor is also in the mix, tied for 28th place after shooting a 71 on Friday. However, former Masters champion Mike Weir and Taylor Pendrith failed to make the cut.
Rose’s steady play kept him at the top of the leaderboard, with DeChambeau and McIlroy close behind. McIlroy, in particular, showed resilience after a shaky start, bouncing back with impressive shots on the back nine to stay in contention for a career Grand Slam.
As the tournament heads into the weekend, Scheffler, looking to become just the fourth player to win back-to-back Masters titles, remains within striking distance. The cut line, set at the top 50 and ties, proved to be a challenge for some players, with veterans like Bernhard Langer and Fred Couples vying to make history as the oldest players to make the cut.
With notable players like Brooks Koepka facing obstacles and Rose aiming for his second green jacket at the age of 44, the competition at the Masters is heating up. As the pressure mounts and the leaderboard shifts, golf fans can expect an exciting weekend of world-class competition at Augusta National.
