Canadian forward Jonathan David scores on Juventus debut in victorious season opener

Canada forward Jonathan David made an impressive start to his Serie A career, scoring in his debut for Juventus in their 2-0 victory over Parma in the season opener on Sunday. The 25-year-old joined Juventus on a free transfer from Lille and wasted no time making an impact.
Despite ending the match with 10 men after Andrea Cambiaso was sent off late in the game, Juventus managed to secure the win with a goal from substitute Dusan Vlahovic. David, who received a standing ovation from the fans when he was substituted in the 80th minute, expressed his delight at scoring in his first game for the club.
“It’s everything I hoped for,” said David. “It was the first game of the season and the fans brought an amazing atmosphere and you could feel them pushing us forward. I’m happy to score in my first game but the most important thing is the three points.”
David, who scored 25 goals and provided 12 assists for Lille last season, is also Canada’s all-time leading scorer with 36 goals in 67 appearances. He emphasized his commitment to helping the team in any way possible.
“The target is to help the team as much as I can,” David said. “If it’s by scoring goals, by getting assists, running back, defending, I will do everything.”
Juventus struggled in the first half but came alive after the break, with David breaking the deadlock in the 59th minute. A swift counter-attack led to Vlahovic doubling Juve’s lead, sealing the victory.
Despite Cambiaso’s red card, Juventus managed to maintain their composure and secure the win. The team will be looking to build on this positive start as they aim for success in the Serie A this season.
