Canadian snowboarder Francis Jobin claims slopestyle gold for 1st career World Cup victory

Canada’s Francis Jobin made history in Aspen, Colo., as he clinched a gold medal in the snowboard slopestyle event at the World Cup. The 26-year-old from Quebec City delivered a flawless performance in the final, scoring an impressive 79.30 to secure his first ever World Cup podium finish.

Jobin’s run was nothing short of spectacular as he executed his tricks with precision and style. He flawlessly navigated the first two rails and finished off with a switch backside double rodeo 1260 nosegrab, leaving the judges and spectators in awe.

This victory was a significant milestone for Jobin, whose previous best finish in slopestyle was fourth place. Despite starting in seventh position after the qualification round, Jobin’s upset win showcased his talent and determination on the slopes.

In another event, Amy Fraser of Calgary also made her mark by claiming the bronze medal in the freeski halfpipe competition. The 29-year-old put on a stellar performance, earning a score of 86.75 and securing her spot on the podium.

Fraser’s podium finish was a well-deserved accomplishment, especially considering the tough competition from Zoe Atkin of Great Britain and Fanghui Li of China who took home the gold and silver medals respectively. Although her fellow Canadians Cassie Sharpe and Rachael Karker missed out on the podium, Fraser’s performance was a shining moment for the Canadian team.

Both Jobin and Fraser’s victories in Aspen highlighted the talent and skill of Canadian athletes in the world of winter sports. Their outstanding performances and podium finishes will undoubtedly inspire the next generation of snowboarders and freeskiers in Canada.
