Carlos Alcaraz brushes aside mid-match knee concern to reach U.S. Open 4th round

Carlos Alcaraz Advances to U.S. Open Fourth Round
Second seed Carlos Alcaraz showed his class once again as he powered past Italy’s Luciano Darderi in straight sets at the U.S. Open third round, notching up his 80th Grand Slam victory.
The Spaniard, who has been in sensational form with a remarkable 42-2 record since April, encountered a brief scare during the match when he called for a medical timeout for his knee. However, Alcaraz quickly reassured fans by stating, “It’s just a precaution that I asked for the physio. I’m feeling good.”
Alcaraz wasted no time in asserting his dominance in the first set, breaking Darderi early on and closing out the set with ease. Despite a spirited fightback from Darderi in the second set, Alcaraz’s quality shone through as he sealed the victory with a commanding performance in the final set.
Following the match, Alcaraz expressed his satisfaction with his performance, stating, “I just played such great tennis, great performance in general, so I’m just really proud about it.”
Next Challenge Awaits
With this win, Alcaraz sets up a meeting with either Benjamin Bonzi or Arthur Rinderknech, both hailing from France, in the fourth round of the tournament. The young star will be looking to continue his impressive run and advance further in the competition.
As Alcaraz progresses through the U.S. Open, fans can expect to witness more thrilling tennis from the talented Spaniard, who is proving to be a force to be reckoned with on the court.
