Casino Nova Scotia and New Brunswick warn of phishing scam through Meta platforms
SYDNEY, N.S. — Great Canadian Entertainment, owners of Moncton’s Casino New Brunswick and Casino Nova Scotia locations in Halifax and Sydney, are advising of Instagram and Facebook scam attempts exploiting business facilities and employees.
On its website, GCE noted the phishing scam is advertising false casino promotions enticing residents with sign-up bonuses and free spins for downloading an alleged Casino Nova Scotia or Casino New Brunswick mobile phone app — neither of which exists.
Scammers have been illegally using the business name, logo, and in the case of the Nova Scotia incidents, unauthorized photos of employees and the property building in an attempt to make the scam look convincing.
GCE to use the utmost caution when faced with potentially fraudulent information.
On their website, GCE said company officials will never contact players for any personal or financial information including name, phone number, address, Social Insurance Number, credit card numbers or bank account numbers — or require a paid fee to participate in a promotional event or to collect a promotional giveaway.
To report potential scams mimicking GCE casinos, email [email protected] or call 604-303-1000.
