Chicago horror homicide: 2 migrants in custody, sources say
Two migrants who are in the U.S. illegally have been taken into custody in connection to the tragic death of a 63-year-old man in Chicago. The victim, George Levin, was found tied up at his home in Norwood Park, with duct tape covering his face and mouth. An autopsy revealed that Levin died from multiple injuries sustained during an assault, and his death was ruled a homicide.
The suspects, both adult migrants, hail from Venezuela and Ecuador and are believed to have crossed the border into the United States through Texas in the summer of 2023. Sources suggest that Levin may have met the suspects on a gay dating app, leading to a targeted robbery that turned deadly.
One of the suspects had previously been arrested in Chicago on January 12 for allegedly attempting to lure children, but was released the following day. Levin resided in the lower level of a home he shared with his sister in Norwood Park, a quiet community known for its high population of law enforcement and city workers.
The day of Levin’s death coincided with a large immigration enforcement operation led by U.S. border czar Tom Homan and the Justice Department in Chicago. The operation resulted in the arrests of convicted murderers, aggravated sex offenders, and members of the Tren de Aragua gang.
Matt Finn, a correspondent for FOX News Channel based in Los Angeles, reported on the tragic incident. Finn joined FNC in 2013 as part of the Junior Reporter program in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The details surrounding Levin’s death and the arrest of the two suspects highlight the ongoing challenges and complexities of immigration enforcement in the United States. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to bring justice to the victim and ensure the safety of the community.
