Chicago raid targets left-wing activist accused in Israeli embassy workers shooting

FBI and Chicago police are currently raiding the Albany Park home of Elias Rodriguez, a 30-year-old suspect in a double murder outside an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. The authorities are working to verify the authenticity of an apparent antisemitic “manifesto” that has been circulating online.
The raid on Rodriguez’s Chicago apartment comes just a day after the shocking attack where he is accused of lurking outside the museum event and then opening fire on two people as they were leaving. The victims have been identified as Sarah Milgrim, a U.S. citizen who worked at the embassy, and Yaron Lischinsky, a Christian Israeli.
Images from FOX 32 Chicago show investigators in tactical gear swarming the brick building in the Albany Park neighborhood. A sign reading “Justice for Wadea” was seen hanging in a window, believed to belong to Rodriguez. Wadea al-Fayoume was a 6-year-old Palestinian-American boy killed in a hate crime attack days after a Hamas terror attack against Israel.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned Rodriguez as a “brutal terrorist” and criticized liberal governments in Europe for their support of Hamas over Israel. Rodriguez was taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department and the FBI for questioning.
A possible manifesto linked to Rodriguez, condemning Israel’s response to the Hamas attack, has been circulating online. The FBI is investigating the authenticity of the document. Rodriguez had a brief association with the Party for Socialism and Liberation in 2017, as reported by Liberation, a socialist news site.
The victims of the shooting, Milgrim and Lischinsky, were described as a couple by Lischinsky’s father, Daniel Lischinsky. He revealed that his son had plans to propose to Milgrim soon and they were deeply in love.
The shooting took place as the victims were leaving an event hosted by the American Jewish Committee, focused on finding humanitarian solutions for Palestinians in Gaza. The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of two innocent lives.
As the investigation continues, authorities are working tirelessly to gather more information and ensure that justice is served for the victims and their families. The FBI raid on Rodriguez’s home in Chicago is a crucial step in uncovering the truth behind this senseless act of violence.
