China blames US for COVID origin

China is pointing the finger at the United States for the origin of COVID-19, accusing Washington of dodging responsibility for the virus amidst numerous statements by President Donald Trump suggesting that it originated from a lab in Wuhan. In a detailed multipage paper, the Communist regime claimed that the infectious disease was present in the U.S. earlier than what had been officially determined.
“The US should stop shifting blame and evading responsibility, and instead, reflect on and overhaul its public health policies,” the paper stated. “The US cannot ignore the many questions surrounding its actions.”
This accusation comes after the White House recently revamped its COVID.gov website, presenting the “true origins” of the virus. The website now includes information supporting the lab leak theory, details on how former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci initially dismissed the idea of a lab origin, and former President Joe Biden’s pardon of Fauci for any potential offenses against the U.S. The site also highlights specific biological characteristics of the virus that suggest a lab origin.
Furthermore, the paper referenced a joint study conducted with the World Health Organization (WHO) that concluded COVID-19 was most likely transmitted from bats to humans via another animal. This contradicts the Trump administration’s CIA report from 2025, which suggested a lab leak as the probable origin.
The report also criticized the U.S. for its response to the pandemic, labeling it as slow and ineffective. Chinese officials claimed that the U.S. government’s handling of the outbreak set a poor example for the international community and accused Washington of politicizing the origins tracing of SARS-CoV-2.
“The US must address these issues and acknowledge its mistakes instead of deflecting blame,” the paper emphasized.
