‘City in decline’: Whistleblower says Boston crime rising as Healey, Wu resist Trump crackdown

The state of Massachusetts is facing a crisis as a migrant shelter whistleblower has raised concerns about a surge in crime in neighborhoods across the state, particularly in Boston. Jon Fetherston, who previously ran a state-funded migrant shelter in Marlborough, Massachusetts, has highlighted the increase in domestic violence, sex trafficking, shoplifting, and auto accidents since Democratic Governor Maura Healey shut down the shelter system.
Fetherston has criticized Governor Healey for downplaying the severity of the situation and for not taking appropriate action to address the rise in crime. He believes that the closure of the shelter system has only exacerbated the problem and put communities at risk. Fetherston also pointed out the high-profile case of illegal immigrant Harjinder Singh, who was involved in a fatal auto accident in Florida, as an example of the dangers posed by unchecked immigration.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, a fellow Democrat, has rejected calls for federal intervention from the Trump administration and has emphasized that Boston follows all laws, city, state, and federal. However, Fetherston believes that Mayor Wu’s refusal to acknowledge the escalating crime rates in Boston is irresponsible and dangerous.
In response to the lack of action from state and local officials, Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons has vowed to increase the presence of federal agents in Boston. Fetherston supports this decision and believes that it is crucial to prioritize public safety above all else. He also criticized Mayor Wu for prioritizing political rhetoric over the well-being of the community.
Overall, Fetherston believes that the Trump administration’s efforts to address crime in Massachusetts are necessary and justified. He emphasized the importance of supporting law enforcement and ensuring the safety of residents in crime-ridden areas. Fetherston hopes that state and local officials will prioritize public safety and work towards creating safer communities for all residents.
White House Slams Democrats for Criticizing President’s Crime Policies
In a recent statement, White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson criticized Democrats for their resistance to the President’s crime policies. Jackson specifically called out Healey and Wu, stating, “If these Democrats focused on fixing crime in their own cities instead of doing publicity stunts to criticize the President, their communities would be much safer.”
She further noted, “Cracking down on crime should not be a partisan issue, but Democrats suffering from TDS [Trump Derangement Syndrome] are trying to make it one.” Jackson urged Democrats to take a cue from fellow Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser, who recently praised the Trump Administration for driving down violent crime in Washington DC.
However, Bowser’s office declined to provide additional comments on the matter, directing inquiries to the mayor’s previous statements.
