Clip of Schumer praising Trump as business prodigy resurfaces on social media

With President Donald Trump’s former reality TV show “The Apprentice” now available for streaming on Amazon Prime, politically savvy viewers have unearthed a fascinating episode from Season 5 that features Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., heaping praise on the now-president.

During the eighth episode of the season, contestants were tasked with a challenge, and the winners were rewarded with a breakfast meeting with Sen. Schumer in Washington, D.C. Over breakfast at the renowned Hay-Adams hotel, Schumer drew parallels between his family and Trump’s, highlighting their shared roots in Brooklyn.

Schumer reminisced with the contestants about their shared history, noting that Trump’s father and his grandfather were both builders in Brooklyn. The senator then went on to laud Trump as a business prodigy, stating that he always knew Trump was destined for success, even from a young age.

Despite Schumer’s friendly sentiments towards Trump during the episode, in a 2016 interview with Politico, he asserted that Trump was not his friend, but rather a casual acquaintance. Fast forward to today, and Schumer has become one of Trump’s most vocal critics, describing him as a “lawless, angry man” and criticizing his leadership.

This stark shift in Schumer’s attitude towards Trump has not gone unnoticed by both Republicans and Democrats alike. GOP Sen. Aric Nesbitt commented on the irony of the situation, while former Democratic legislator Aaron Regunberg called Schumer a “world-class slug of a man” for his past praise of Trump.

In a previous interview before taking office, Trump expressed optimism about his ability to work with Schumer, describing their relationship as close in many ways. However, as tensions between the two have escalated over time, Trump has taken jabs at Schumer on various issues, including his alleged lack of support for the Jewish community.

With Trump’s recent comments likening Schumer to a Palestinian and accusing him of abandoning his Jewish heritage, the rift between the two political heavyweights continues to widen. Despite their past interactions on “The Apprentice” and Trump’s initial positive outlook towards Schumer, their current relationship is fraught with animosity.

Schumer is not the only public figure who has shifted from praising Trump to criticizing him. Oprah Winfrey once hailed Trump as a “folk hero,” while music producer Russell Simmons lauded him as “very nice” before condemning his divisive actions during his presidency.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, the dynamic between Trump and Schumer serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of politics and the shifting alliances that can occur over time.
