Come on in, the water’s fine: Halifax opens new pool, aquatic center on Common

Mother Nature hasn’t been treating us the best lately, but she planned a great day on Thursday for the opening of the new aquatic center on the Halifax Common.
At the beginning of the afternoon, the large swimming pool – which can accommodate 300 people – was filled with dozens of young people and families
It features a sloped entrance and, for those who need it, a barrier-free lift to the pool. The pool also has a six-foot deep section, roped-off lanes for lap swimmers, and climbing walls.
The new space also features an outdoor water plaza with sprinkler features for all ages.
The changing room building contains gender-neutral changing rooms and sanitary areas and is accessible to users with physical disabilities.
