Conor McGregor accuser testifies in court

DUBLIN – Woman Testifies Against Conor McGregor in Civil Case

A woman who has accused Conor McGregor of sexually assaulting her in a Dublin hotel in 2018 appeared in an Irish court on Tuesday to begin a civil case seeking financial damages from the MMA star. McGregor was present at the High Court in Dublin as the trial commenced, with proceedings expected to span approximately two weeks.

The alleged incident reportedly occurred on December 9, 2018, leading to the civil action being filed in 2021. McGregor, along with another individual named James Lawrence, are named as defendants in the case. McGregor’s spokesperson has previously refuted the allegations, citing that the Irish authorities investigated the matter and opted not to pursue criminal charges.

During her testimony, the woman claimed that she expressed discomfort to McGregor after being left alone with him in a bedroom within the penthouse suite of a Dublin hotel. She recounted her efforts to convey her lack of interest in engaging in any sexual activity, stating that McGregor persisted despite her protests.

Legal representation for the woman, John Gordon, highlighted the existing acquaintance between McGregor and the accuser, noting their shared age group, geographical proximity, mutual connections, and prior interactions on social media. Additionally, Daniel Keane, a gynecologist and forensic examiner specializing in sexual assault cases, testified to the woman’s distress upon her arrival at the hospital following the alleged assault, detailing visible bruising on her body that he described as particularly severe.

Reports indicate that McGregor’s defense team plans to argue that the encounter between him and the woman was consensual. The timeline for presenting their arguments in court has yet to be determined.
