Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program Issues Invitations to Skilled Workers
Manitoba recently conducted its 17th provincial immigration draw of the year, inviting skilled employees through the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). Invitations were extended to individuals based on their work experience, score results, and participation in strategic recruitment initiatives.
Draw Results
On August 21, the MPNP held a draw under the Competent Employee stream, issuing a total of 77 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs). Among these, 18 were sent to candidates who had a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code. The minimum score required for this draw was 612.
Only candidates who were directly invited by the MPNP as part of a strategic recruitment initiative received invitations. These initiatives included:
- Employers’ services – 6 invitations
- Francophone community – 29 invitations
- Regional communities – 31 invitations
- Ethnocultural communities – 11 invitations
Candidates who met the cutoff score but did not receive an LAA may have overlooked certain requirements, such as not providing a valid language test number or invitation number for a strategic recruitment initiative.
Understanding Strategic Recruitment Initiatives
Strategic recruitment initiatives are targeted efforts by employers or communities to address labor shortages in Manitoba by inviting candidates with essential skills. These initiatives help local employers meet their long-term workforce needs and provide eligible candidates with an opportunity to obtain permanent resident status in Canada.
To participate in these initiatives, employers must meet specific criteria for their job vacancies and follow Manitoba’s recruitment process. Once approved, they can submit information about international candidates to Manitoba’s employer services.
Candidates selected through strategic recruitment initiatives must meet certain eligibility criteria related to age, education, language skills, work experience, and other requirements specific to the job position.
