Conservative nonprofit names top Education Dept bureaucrats Trump should fire

Conservative nonprofit American Accountability Foundation (AAF) has recently released a “watch-list” of top bureaucrats at the Department of Education that it recommends President-elect Donald Trump should fire. The list, which was published on the organization’s website, includes 19 “dossiers” naming “America’s Most Subversive Education Bureaucrats.”

AAF President Tom Jones, a former Republican congressional staffer, explained to Fox News Digital that the list was not compiled at the request of the Trump transition team but rather to shed light on the presence of ideologues within the Department of Education who do not align with the will of the American people. Jones expressed concern over these individuals prioritizing their own progressive agendas over the directives of the president.

Among those named on the list are individuals who have been identified as “serial donors” to Democratic politicians such as Pete Buttigieg, Elizabeth Warren, and President Biden. Jones highlighted the potential dangers of these bureaucrats pushing for policies like student loan bailouts and increased regulations on successful online class partnerships, as well as conducting investigations against Christian and career colleges.

Jones specifically pointed out an individual at the Office of Enforcement who had previously worked in Maryland investigating career and Christian colleges, as well as another person who expressed a desire to turn the Department of Education into a “mini-CFPB,” likening it to a witch hunt factory. The nonprofit also accused a general attorney within the DOE of being a leading advocate for transgender rights in the context of religious exemptions for universities.

The list includes employees who have spearheaded initiatives like a $6.1 billion student loan forgiveness scheme and efforts to penalize faith-based higher education institutions. Jones criticized the high salaries of these individuals, some of whom earn over $200,000 annually, while the average American teacher’s salary ranges from $50,000 to $60,000.

Jones emphasized that these bureaucrats are not impartial technicians but rather ideological policymakers who should be held accountable for their actions. He called on the administration to treat them like political appointees and remove them from their positions to prevent left-wing political ideology from influencing education policy for the next four years.

In contrast to previous pushback from DHS Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas against similar initiatives targeting DHS employees, Jones defended the AAF’s efforts as a means of promoting accountability and transparency within the federal government. He expressed optimism about President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Education Secretary, Linda McMahon, and her potential to bring about much-needed reform within the Department of Education.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Department of Education press office and the staffers listed on the watch-list for comment, but responses were not provided at the time of publication. The AAF’s actions reflect a broader effort to ensure that government officials uphold the values and priorities of the American people.
