Conservatives rally around ‘rock star’ Leavitt after first White House briefing: ‘Competence is back’

Conservatives on social media were quick to praise newly minted White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt’s performance in her first press conference on Tuesday. Leavitt, who is the youngest press secretary in the nation’s history at just 27 years old, addressed a room full of reporters with confidence and poise, speaking for almost an hour on a variety of topics.
Many conservatives took to social media to express their admiration for Leavitt’s handling of the questions and her willingness to engage with reporters from different political affiliations. Actor James Woods called her a “rock star” and predicted that the next four years would be “sublime” with her in the role. Fox News contributor Joey Jones praised Leavitt for her impressive performance, while talk show host Addison Smith commended her for her competence and ability to speak without relying on scripted talking points.
Other conservative voices, such as Outkick founder Clay Travis and Rush Limbaugh’s longtime friend and producer James Golden, lauded Leavitt for her clarity and directness in her responses. They contrasted her approach with that of her predecessor, Karine Jean-Pierre, noting that Leavitt did not shy away from questions or dance around facts. Comedian Jimmy Faila also highlighted Leavitt’s ability to answer questions without constantly referring to notes or scripts, calling her a refreshing change from previous press secretaries.
Leavitt’s background as a fierce defender of former President Donald Trump and her experience as a congressional candidate in 2022 have prepared her well for the role of press secretary. She previously served as an assistant press secretary in Trump’s administration and worked as communications director for New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik. Despite losing her congressional campaign to a Democrat, Leavitt has proven herself to be a capable and confident communicator.
Overall, conservatives on social media are optimistic about Leavitt’s tenure as press secretary, believing that she will bring a welcome change from the previous administration’s approach to media relations. With her youth, energy, and willingness to engage with a variety of reporters, Leavitt is poised to make a lasting impression in her new role.
