Cowboys continue to own Giants as battle of backups continues Big Blue’s derailed season
The New York Giants faced off against their NFC East rival, the Dallas Cowboys, on Thanksgiving Day and unfortunately came up short, losing 27-20. It was a disappointing outcome for the Giants, regardless of who was starting at quarterback.
The game started off promising for the Giants as they marched down the field on their first drive, scoring a touchdown to take an early 7-3 lead. However, things quickly took a turn for the worse as quarterback Drew Lock threw a pick-six on the first play of his next drive.
The Cowboys took advantage of the turnover and went on to build a 13-10 lead by halftime. The second half saw more struggles for the Giants, with Lock losing a fumble early on that led to another Cowboys touchdown. Despite a late surge by the Giants, including a rushing touchdown by Lock, they were unable to overcome the deficit and secure the win.
Lock, who got the start due to an injury to Tommy DeVito, had a mixed performance, throwing for 178 yards with a pick and a fumble. He also led the team in rushing with 57 yards. The Giants’ offense struggled to find consistency throughout the game, leading to their downfall.
On the Cowboys’ side, CeeDee Lamb left the game with a shoulder injury, but Malik Nabers made history by setting a record for the most catches in a player’s first 10 games in the league. The Cowboys’ strong performance on both sides of the ball ultimately secured the win for them.
This loss marked the third consecutive game the Giants had a different starting quarterback, highlighting the challenges they have faced in finding stability at the position. In contrast, the Cowboys have dominated the rivalry in recent years, winning 20 of their last 24 games against the Giants.
With the defeat, the Giants fell to 2-10 on the season, while the Cowboys improved to 5-7. The Giants will look to bounce back when they host the Saints next Sunday, while the Cowboys will aim to keep their momentum going as they face the Cincinnati Bengals at home.
Overall, it was a tough loss for the Giants, who continue to struggle to find success on the field. The Cowboys, on the other hand, are building momentum and looking to make a push for the playoffs as the season progresses.
