The BC Wildfire Service reports more than 300 fires, 87 of which occurred in the past 24 hours and nearly 200 of the total number as uncontrollable.

VANCOUVER — British Columbia is imposing a total ban on campfires across the province except Haida Gwaii after lightning combined with tinder-dry conditions sparked a massive spate of wildfires over the weekend.
