Cross-examination of woman in sexual assault trial of ex-world junior hockey players continues

Court resumes at 10 a.m. ET

The trial for five former world junior hockey teammates accused of sexual assault continues today in London, Ontario, with further cross-examination of the woman complainant.

Referred to as E.M. to protect her identity under a standard publication ban, the woman faced tough questioning from Michael McLeod’s lawyer, David Humphrey, yesterday. Humphrey suggested that E.M. had invited McLeod and other players into a hotel room in June 2018 and later requested them to engage in sexual activities.

Humphrey further claimed that the woman wanted to prolong the night and even encouraged McLeod to invite his friends over for a “wild night.” However, E.M. refuted these allegations, stating that she was taken aback when more men entered the room unexpectedly.

The accused individuals, including Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dubé, and Callan Foote, have all maintained their innocence in relation to the charges of sexual assault. McLeod specifically pleaded not guilty to being a party to the offense of sexual assault.
