Musk teases huge DOGE savings in Trump Cabinet meeting

DOGE Chief Elon Musk recently announced that the organization is on track to save the U.S. government over $150 billion in cuts to waste and fraud in the fiscal year 2026. Musk made this statement during a public Cabinet meeting with President Donald Trump, emphasizing the need to address inefficiencies in government spending.

During the meeting, Musk highlighted the absurdity of some instances of waste and fraud, such as individuals receiving unemployment insurance who have not even been born yet. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts with the Cabinet to identify and eliminate unnecessary expenses, creating better services for the American people.

In a move to demonstrate its commitment to fiscal responsibility, DOGE recently terminated 108 “wasteful contracts” with a combined ceiling value of $250 million, resulting in a savings of $70 million. Among these contracts was a $14,000 commitment by the Department of Health and Human Services for an “executive transformational leadership training program.”

Another problematic contract that was canceled was a $5.2 million agreement with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management to provide strategic advisory and assistance for process improvement and organizational transformation. These actions signify DOGE’s dedication to rooting out inefficiencies and ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent sensibly and fairly.

The Cabinet meeting comes on the heels of DOGE’s efforts to streamline government spending and eliminate questionable grants, signaling a shift towards more responsible financial management. By cutting wasteful spending and addressing fraud, DOGE aims to not only save taxpayer dollars but also improve the quality of services provided to the American people.
