Dalhousie University gives a lock -out notification to the faculty

Employees part of the Dalhousie Faculty Association (DFA) will be resolved from Wednesday 20 August, if a deal is not reached with the university.
According to the Lockout knowledge, those within the association have no access to the school from 9:30 am conversations between the Dalhousie Board of Governors and the DFA In mid -July ended without a collective agreement.
The employees represented by the trade union are full -time instructors, librarians and counselors at the university.
The board asked for a vote on the final offer last week, which was not completed by the trade union. Members have until after the start of the Lockout to vote (August 21).
What happens when there is a lockout
- Campus is open
- The lessons given by the DFA faculty are suspended until the disruption is over
- Plans are made for summer lessons
- If the disturbance continues in the fall, students are told which classes are influenced
- Students still have to be planning to come to school in the fall
- All employees who are not part of the DFA must report to work as normal
- Campus courts, placements, cooperatives and internships will continue, unless stated otherwise
In one Letter from Dalhousie President Kim Brooks, she writes that the negotiations have not been easyBut those who make the university what it is are the faculty.
“In this spirit, the board offers a definitive proposal that tries to balance a fair compensation for the faculties with our responsibility to guarantee the financial health of Dalhousie,” it says.
It included an increase of 2 percent per year in a three -year agreement and continuous increase in career development and promotions. The letter does describe that the offer is in accordance with current inflation, but is not a reflection of the higher inflation of previous years.
