Trump invites El Salvador’s Bukele for White House ‘working visit’

President Donald Trump has extended an invitation to El Salvadorian President Nayib Bukele to visit the White House later this month. In a letter dated April 1, Trump expressed his appreciation for Bukele’s support in combating illegal immigration, stating that their partnership has made great strides in protecting Americans from unauthorized border crossings.

Bukele shared the letter from Trump on social media, revealing that the meeting is scheduled for April 14. The White House has yet to confirm the details, despite inquiries from Fox News Digital.

One key point of collaboration between the two leaders is El Salvador’s use of a new supermax prison to house members of the notorious Tren de Aragua and MS-13 gangs. Trump commended Bukele for his leadership in this initiative, highlighting it as a model for other countries seeking to work with the United States on security and immigration issues.

Recently, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem visited CECOT, El Salvador’s high-security detention facility, further solidifying the partnership between the two nations in addressing transnational criminal organizations.

In response to a joint military operation between the U.S. and El Salvador that resulted in the transfer of 17 dangerous criminals, including murderers and child rapists, Trump publicly thanked Bukele for his cooperation. The Salvadorian President, in turn, expressed gratitude for the support from the U.S. administration.

The upcoming meeting at the White House is expected to focus on ways to deepen cooperation on security, immigration, and other shared priorities. Both leaders have emphasized the importance of working together to address common challenges and advance their countries’ interests.
