Dem lawmakers say enraged voters suggest violence over Trump’s agenda

Democratic lawmakers are expressing frustration and anger at the perceived inability to counter President Donald Trump’s agenda, with some even suggesting that violence may be necessary, according to a report from Axios.

The report, which spoke to over two dozen House Democrats, revealed that the Democratic base is seething with anger and a growing desire to push back against Trump’s policies. Many lawmakers mentioned that their constituents are demanding more aggressive action, with explanations about the limits of Democratic power falling on deaf ears.

Representative Brad Schneider of Illinois acknowledged the pressure from their base, stating, “We’ve got people who are desperately wanting us to do something… no matter what we say, they want [more].” The majority of lawmakers interviewed requested anonymity, and Schneider’s office did not provide immediate comment to Fox News Digital.

Some lawmakers reported that their constituents are adamant that peaceful protests and civil discourse are no longer effective. One lawmaker stated that their constituents believe “there needs to be blood to grab the attention of the press and the public.” Another mentioned that their constituents are prepared to resort to violence to protect democracy.

The sentiment among Democratic voters was described as intense, with one lawmaker comparing it to spectators in the Roman coliseum demanding more spectacle. Some constituents have even gone as far as suggesting that lawmakers should be willing to get “shot” or face violence in their efforts to resist the Trump administration.

The White House did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on the report. The growing frustration among Democratic voters reflects a broader dissatisfaction with the current political climate and a desire for more aggressive resistance to President Trump’s agenda.

In a separate incident, a lawmaker recounted a meeting with constituents where the discussion turned to escalating tactics. The lawmaker mentioned suggesting using an extinguisher to put out a fire, only for a constituent to suggest using gasoline instead, indicating a desire for more aggressive action.

The report highlights the deep divisions and frustrations within the Democratic Party and the growing pressure on lawmakers to take more forceful action against the Trump administration. As the 2020 election approaches, the party faces increasing scrutiny and demands from its base for stronger resistance to President Trump’s policies.
