Dem looks to tackle Trump tariffs during marathon Senate vote

Sen. Jacky Rosen is taking a stand against President Donald Trump’s tariffs on certain materials that are impacting key tourism partners. In an exclusive statement to Fox News Digital, Rosen expressed her concerns about the tariffs, stating that they are raising prices for hardworking Nevada families and hurting the state’s tourism economy. She plans to introduce amendments ahead of Friday night’s “Vote-A-Rama” in an effort to roll back these tariffs and provide financial relief to working families.
Rosen’s amendments specifically target Trump’s tariffs on critical construction materials for building houses and across-the-board tariffs on countries with many visitors to the U.S. She shared stories from concerned Nevada business owners who fear the impact of these tariffs on their businesses and livelihoods. One small business owner in Reno expressed that the duties would force them to raise retail prices by 37 percent, potentially putting their business at risk.
The “vote-a-rama” is expected to take place on Friday after a day of debate, allowing senators to introduce and vote on an unlimited number of amendments. This process will mark movement on Trump’s budget for border funding and extending his 2017 tax cuts, which Republicans in Congress have been pursuing. Despite initial disagreements between House and Senate Republicans on budget reconciliation, a one-bill approach was ultimately favored and approved by Trump.
