Democrat senator ‘won’t rest’ until deported El Salvadoran man is back in U.S.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., is on a mission to bring back Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a suspected MS-13 member who was deported to a mega prison in El Salvador. Van Hollen has described Abrego Garcia as “wrongfully abducted” and has vowed not to rest until he is brought back to Maryland, where he was living illegally.

During his trip to El Salvador, Van Hollen was able to speak with Vice President Félix Augusto Antonio Ulloa Garay, but he was unable to make contact with Abrego Garcia in person or via phone. Despite the challenges, Van Hollen remains steadfast in his efforts to bring Abrego Garcia back to the United States.

Van Hollen’s visit to El Salvador comes in the wake of a tragic incident in Maryland, where an El Salvadoran illegal alien was convicted of raping and murdering Rachel Morin, a mother of five. Morin’s mother, Patty, criticized Van Hollen for prioritizing the return of Abrego Garcia over seeking justice for her daughter.

In response to the criticism, Van Hollen released a statement expressing his condolences to the Morin family and emphasizing the need for comprehensive immigration reform. He reiterated his commitment to supporting immigrant communities while also ensuring public safety and border security.

Despite facing backlash from Patty Morin and others, Van Hollen remains focused on his mission to bring Abrego Garcia back to the U.S. He believes that everyone deserves their day in court and that individuals should not be deported without due process.

Abrego Garcia’s deportation has been the subject of controversy, with conflicting reports about his alleged gang affiliation. While the Supreme Court has ordered his return to the U.S., the Trump administration has stated that it is ultimately up to El Salvador to decide whether to facilitate his return.

Van Hollen is not alone in his efforts to bring Abrego Garcia back to the U.S., with other Democratic lawmakers also seeking to visit him in El Salvador. The case highlights the complexities of immigration policy and the challenges of ensuring justice for all individuals involved.

As the debate continues, Van Hollen remains committed to fighting for the rights of individuals like Abrego Garcia and ensuring that the legal process is followed to uphold justice. His determination to see this through underscores the importance of due process and fairness in the immigration system.
