Democrat slammed for saying he’s tired of hearing from law enforcement: ‘Partisan hack’

Democratic New York Rep. Dan Goldman is facing backlash for comments he made during a House hearing on illegal immigration, specifically about Nassau County law enforcement. He expressed his frustration at having to sit through another hearing on the same topic and indicated that he was tired of hearing from Nassau County officials.

During the hearing titled “Given the Green Light: Open Border Policies and Threats to Law Enforcement,” Goldman made disparaging remarks about Nassau County law enforcement officials, stating that he was looking forward to not having to hear from them again. This comment did not sit well with Nassau County Police Commissioner Pat Ryder, who found Goldman’s remarks disrespectful to him and all men and women in law enforcement.

Commissioner Ryder, who testified during the hearing, told Fox News Digital that he was taken aback by Goldman’s comments. He emphasized that law enforcement officials work tirelessly to keep communities safe and deserve respect for their dedication and service.

Goldman’s behavior during the hearing was also criticized by Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, who represents Nassau County in Congress. D’Esposito pointed out that Goldman, who has a summer home in Nassau County, benefits from the protection provided by Nassau officers. He described Goldman’s comments as partisan and unprofessional.

Bill Johnson, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, remarked that Goldman consistently takes the wrong stance on public safety issues. He suggested that Goldman’s dismissive attitude towards law enforcement officials reflects his lack of understanding of the challenges they face.

Commissioner Ryder expressed disappointment at Goldman’s behavior, noting that he had prepared diligently for the hearing and was eager to share his insights on addressing migrant crime. He found Goldman’s conduct disrespectful and unfair, particularly as it was his first time testifying before Congress.

Despite the criticism, Ryder emphasized the professionalism and dedication of law enforcement officers in Nassau County. He highlighted their proactive approach to addressing migrant issues while remaining respectful and fair. Ryder believes that politicians like Goldman could benefit from observing the professionalism exhibited by law enforcement officials.

In conclusion, the incident at the House hearing serves as a reminder of the importance of respecting law enforcement and recognizing their contributions to public safety. It is essential for lawmakers to engage with law enforcement officials constructively and appreciate the challenges they face in their line of work.
