Democratic doctors’ protest against Trump’s megabill drowned out by tourists

The Democratic Doctors Caucus faced a unique challenge during a press conference outside House Speaker Mike Johnson’s office on Wednesday. As they gathered to protest President Donald Trump’s $3.3 trillion bill, they were unexpectedly interrupted by a barrage of tourists passing through the hallway.

Since Trump’s election, Democrats have been vocal opponents of any reductions to the healthcare program. The Congressional Budget Office has estimated that as many as 10 million people could lose health insurance by 2034 as a result of Trump’s proposed bill.

While Trump and Republicans argue that the bill aims to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse within Medicaid rather than directly cutting benefits, Democrats remain steadfast in their opposition. The caucus hoped to shed light on these concerns during their press conference, but the constant flow of tourists impeded their ability to communicate effectively.
