A Denver Man Wanted for Murder in 2023 Bar Shooting Arrested After FBI Announces Reward
A Denver man wanted on suspicion of murder in a 2023 bar shooting that left two people dead and two others injured has been apprehended. Matthew LaDaniel Johnson was taken into custody on Friday night, following the FBI’s announcement of a $10,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
Suspect Wanted for Two Counts of Murder and Two Counts of Attempted Murder
Johnson was wanted for two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder in connection with a shooting that took place on December 30, 2023, at the Viking Bar on W. Colfax Ave. The incident unfolded when a confrontation between Johnson’s girlfriend and another man turned violent, resulting in Johnson pulling out a gun and opening fire, striking four individuals.
Tragically, Jason Lewis, 38, and Brandon Houston, 41, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
Arrest Made Following Tip from the Public
Following the FBI’s announcement of a $10,000 reward for information in the case, a tipster came forward with crucial information. FBI agents, along with officers from the Denver Police Department, located and arrested Johnson in north Denver on Friday night.
