DHS honors slain Marine in emotional video as Trump cracks down on ‘terrorist’ cartels

The Department of Homeland Security recently released a video honoring the late Marine Corps veteran Nicholas Quets, who tragically lost his life at the hands of the Sinaloa Cartel. The video highlights Quets’ death and the actions being taken by the department to address the threat posed by drug cartels, which are now being referred to as foreign terrorist organizations.

Nicholas Quets was shot and killed at a Sinaloa Cartel checkpoint while on his way to Rocky Point, Mexico, with friends on October 18, 2024. The cartel members attempted to steal Quets’ pickup truck before fatally shooting him in the back through the heart, ending his life at just 31 years old. Quets’ father, retired Army Lt. Col. Warren D. Quotes Jr., expressed his gratitude for the recognition his son received, particularly from President Trump, as he had received no feedback from the Biden administration or the Kamala Harris campaign.

The video features interviews with Quets’ parents, who expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to share their story and bring attention to the issue of cartel violence. They thanked President Trump and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem for their efforts in protecting Americans and dismantling drug cartels. The designation of drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations has allowed law enforcement to crack down on sex trafficking operations and target those who pose a threat to American citizens.

In a press release, DHS outlined the actions it has taken to address the threat posed by drug cartels, including the signing of an executive order by President Trump to designate drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. The Treasury Department also announced sanctions on individuals and entities involved in a money-laundering scheme that supported the Sinaloa Cartel on what would have been Quets’ 32nd birthday.

Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin praised President Trump’s leadership and the arrests and prosecutions of cartel leaders, stating that these actions are delivering results and putting an end to unchecked cartel violence. Quets’ father spoke out in an interview with Fox News Digital, expressing his belief in President Trump’s commitment to combating cartel violence and emphasizing the importance of taking action against those who threaten the safety and security of American and Mexican citizens.

The efforts to dismantle drug cartels and address the violence and lawlessness they perpetrate are ongoing, with the goal of ensuring that individuals like Nicholas Quets are not forgotten and that justice is served. The legacy of Nicholas Quets serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve our country and the importance of standing up against those who seek to do harm.
