DHS rolls out CBP Home app to replace CBP One app

The Trump administration has announced the launch of a new app called CBP Home, which is set to replace the controversial CBP One app. The new app is designed to facilitate the self-deportation of illegal immigrants, in contrast to the previous app which was used by the Biden administration to allow migrants to schedule appointments at ports of entry for parole into the U.S.

The Department of Homeland Security has expressed its commitment to restoring integrity to the immigration system with the introduction of the CBP Home app. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem emphasized that the app will provide aliens with the option to self-deport, giving them the opportunity to return legally in the future and pursue the American dream. Those who choose not to self-deport will face deportation and will be barred from returning to the U.S.

The app features a “Submit Intent to Depart” function, allowing illegal immigrants to provide information about their intent to leave the country. They can also use the app to verify that they have left the U.S., a feature that is limited to those who were paroled into the country.

The Trump administration has taken swift action to expand deportations and reduce the number of migrants entering the U.S. The use of the CBP One app for parole purposes was terminated on the first day of Trump’s presidency. Additionally, applications for parole programs have been paused, and ICE has been given the authority to cancel parole statuses for migrants.

In a recent development, Noem announced the end of using the CBP One app for migrants to board domestic flights, except for cases where it is being used for self-deportation. Extensions for Temporary Protected Status for certain nationalities have also been canceled by the administration.

Despite these measures, the administration has reported a significant decrease in migrant crossings at the southern border. President Trump has attributed this decline to his strong stance on immigration, noting that migrants have chosen not to come in response to his policies.

Overall, the introduction of the CBP Home app marks a significant shift in immigration enforcement under the Trump administration. The app is aimed at promoting lawful immigration while cracking down on illegal entry into the U.S. As the administration continues to prioritize border security and immigration enforcement, the impact of these policies on the immigration landscape remains to be seen.
