DHS secretary announces registry for illegal aliens in US that will require them to be fingerprinted

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem is sending a strong message to illegal immigrants in the U.S.: leave now or face serious consequences. In a recent interview on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Noem announced a new initiative aimed at cracking down on illegal immigration, including the implementation of an illegal alien registry that requires fingerprinting.
Noem emphasized that DHS will enforce the Immigration and Nationality Act, a law enacted in 1952 that provides tools to track illegal aliens and compel them to voluntarily leave the country. These tools include criminal penalties for migrants who refuse to leave the U.S., fail to register with the federal government, get fingerprinted, or notify the government of address changes.
According to DHS, illegal immigrants who choose not to depart the U.S. will face significant penalties, while those who fail to register with the government could be fined, imprisoned, or both. Noem stressed that the law, which has been ignored for decades, will now be strictly enforced.
The goal of the initiative is to convince illegal immigrants that self-deportation is a safer option, not just for them, but also for law enforcement officials. The DHS is urging immigrants in the U.S. illegally to visit the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services website for instructions on how to register with the federal government.
Noem’s push comes in the wake of a stern warning issued by President Donald Trump, who made it clear that those considering entering the U.S. illegally will be hunted down and prosecuted. The Trump administration has made securing the border and tackling illegal immigration top priorities, deploying the military, restarting wall construction, and ending parole programs put in place by the Biden administration.
As the fourth member of the Trump administration to gain Senate approval, Noem is leading DHS at a critical time when securing the border is of utmost importance. The administration is committed to enforcing all immigration laws and ensuring the safety and security of all Americans.
