Division II basketball player Jamarion Brown fatally shot at pool party in Texas

A tragic incident occurred at a pool party where Henderson State’s Jamarion Brown, a Division II basketball player, was shot in the head and killed at the age of 23. The Camp County Sheriff’s Office reported that two others were also injured in the shooting.
Henderson State Athletics expressed deep sadness over the loss of Jamarion Brown, describing his impact on the campus as profound. Head coach Jimmy Elgas also paid tribute to Brown, highlighting his influence both on and off the basketball court.
Authorities responded to the shooting at a pool party in Camp County, Texas, where Brown was found seriously injured. Despite efforts to transport him to a hospital via helicopter, Brown’s injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead at a hospital in Tyler.
Onterrian Jamour Newton, a 17-year-old, was arrested by the Camp County Sheriff’s Office in connection to the shooting. He faces a murder charge and additional pending charges.
