MINNEAPOLIS – Democrats gathered in Minnesota for their summer meeting, with a focus on uniting against President Donald Trump despite internal divisions on various issues.
DNC Chair Ken Martin emphasized the need for unity to stop Trump and steer the country back on track during his address to over 400 party officials from all states and territories.
While Democrats are aligned in their opposition to Trump’s policies, disagreements within the committee may surface during discussions on the war in Gaza and campaign finance reform.

The committee will vote on resolutions regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict and the role of dark money in presidential politics. One resolution advocates for a cease-fire in Gaza, while another calls for an arms embargo and suspension of US military aid to Israel.
Additionally, a resolution proposed by Martin aims to eliminate unlimited corporate and dark money in the DNC’s presidential nominating process.
Challenges Facing the Democratic Party
Following electoral setbacks in the previous year, Democrats are grappling with low approval ratings, fundraising deficits, and declining party registrations. Leaders at the summer meeting stress the importance of unity and focus on key issues.
